HCP Advisory on COVID-19

To our seafarers and their families,

The World Health Organization has officially declared the COVID-19 as a world pandemic. This means the COVID-19 virus is all everywhere.

There is no need to panic. In the Philippines, all efforts are being done at our office to safeguard against the virus. Among our actions include constant disinfection of high-touch areas, 15-day quarantine for returning seafarers before reporting (with the option to do discussions via phone and submission of documents via courier), cancellation of events and unnecessary business travels, and temperature checking. Our social media channels post all relevant information for guidance. You may also contact our Family Center for further details.

Please note that we also plan exercise the possibility of alternating work schedules or work-from-home setups for our land-based staff in order to protect them. Majority of HCP employees are commuters and the PH government has concluded that this is an at-risk group.

We are challenged by the efforts of many governments abroad to control the spread of COVID-19 by not allowing crew changes in their ports. We are aware that for our seafarers onboard and their families at home, this can be frustrating. Even in the Philippines, we are restricted by the government as to which countries and ports we can arrange crew changes. will make all efforts to bring the crew home as long as it is allowed by the authorities and it will not expose them to infection on their way back to the Philippines.

Meanwhile, the Hartmann Group is ensuring that our crew onboard remain safe and secure from the COVID-19. We are following industry, international, and local protocols meant to protect the crew like restricting visitors, banning shore leave, and providing protective masks and disinfectants.

We have a stake in each other; the Hartmann Group, the office staff, our seafarers and their families, let us have strength in unity. We beg all for each others understanding and patience as we slowly navigate our way through this COVID-19 storm.
