HCP Launches CSR Programs : HARTMANN Cares

August-17-2022

Hartmann Crew Philippines (HCP) officially launched its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs on August 5, 2022. The programs which aim at engaging HCP stakeholders were directed by its President, Giovanni Tuapin, who introduced the three (3) pillars of its social responsibility programs that concentrate on environment, community and governance.

Mr. Tuapin emphasized before the audience of stakeholders, business partners and employees that its CSR programs are all aligned to the company’s mantra: “Building careers, preserving family, and strengthening a nation”. He added that CSR was not a new endeavor for HCP since it had initiated programs for its employees and seafarers.

Some HCP programs that are currently on-going are the following:

  • Career and Financial Planning in Partnership with Atikha Overseas Workers and Communities Initiative, Inc. for cadets and their guardians. HCP has been conducting seminars with Atikha for over ten years now and has been creative in its approach in carrying out the outreach program even during the onset of the COVID-19. ATIKHA is a non-government organization that provides economic and social services to overseas Filipinos and their families in the Philippines.
  • Leadership Training Seminar in Partnership with Learning Just Made Better (LJMB) that is provided to newly promoted officers including the management level officers. The seminar tackles Communication/Conflict Management and Professional Assertiveness (COMPASS) as it focuses on the assessment of actual cases especially those that might occur onboard. It is facilitated by Louie Banta, a global Speaker and seasoned facilitator.
  • Several livelihood seminars for seafarers and family like meat and fish processing, soap-making and the balik-bukid program, an agri-business training.
  • “A Love to Keep”, a seminar that treats on fostering communication and intimacy among couples since many seafarers are married individual and with families that are often confronted with hardships because of physical distance.

Likewise during the launching event, the Head of Finance, Divina Repedro, presented to all those who were present the Integrity Initiative. Ms. Repedro reiterated “it is necessary that the company with its stakeholders are more socially responsible through behaviors of giving back to the society in various ways. Ms. Repedro also pointed out that HCP stakeholders were integral part of the basic economic unit and play a role in economic growth and social development.  She continued to explain that these socially responsible activities could not be achieved without the support of honesty and integrity awareness that should be embedded in the minds of the company’s management and employees, as well as ethical corporate cultures.

As signatory since 2015 of Integrity Pledge, which aims to promote common ethical and acceptable integrity standards in the business community and various sectors of society, HCP has been committed to a high standard of ethics in public service, business practices and corporate governance.

Mr. Michalis Pouris, Head of Intership Navigation Co. Ltd’s Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental Department also discussed, in the perspective of our principals, the Integrity Initiative and Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN) and how it impacted the shipping industry.

This event culminated with the ceremonial signing of the Integrity Pledge by HCP stakeholders – the management and its employees and the business partners.
