Fleet Officers Seminar 2016 focuses on Safety

“Zero Accidents! Zero Tolerance! Partners in Safety!”

This was the theme of the recently concluded Fleet Officers Seminars 2016 happened last November 9-10, at the CRI Penthouse, Malate, Manila.

Spearheaded by the Human Resource and Career Development (HRCD) Department, 54 senior officers gathered and discussed everyone’s paramount concern – SAFETY.

 

SAFETY ON POINT: All in attention as the discussion builds up.

 

As said by Capt. Rene Dzicki and Bernd Oeltjen, Head of Training and Head of Personnel Department respectively, “Only ships manned with the best crew and operated in the safest and most professional way will carry the cargoes of the future.”

Captain Rene Dzicki expounds on the topic of safety culture among the crew.

 

The two-day event included training through case studies that happened on board in order to evaluate the correct procedures to be done. A series of risk assessment workshops to avoid the near misses was also featured in the seminar.

 

Furthermore, updates, changes, challenges, and developments to be expected in the industry were also discussed.

COMPLY NOW: Jeff Rex Calambuhay, head HRCD reminds the officers in the looming full implementation of STCW 2010. 

 

At the end of the event Head of HRCD, Jeff Rex Calambuhay left a simple reminder to the crew, “Safety first and comply with requirements!”

After the whole day training, the officers get together for a fellowship

A simple feast was served to treat the officers.

HCP and ISNTC President Alberto Gomez and Giovanni Tuapin respectively, also came in to join the fellowship.
