Celebrating Excellence: 100th Commencement Exercises of the Pre-Sea Training Program

March-19-2024

Hartmann Crew Philippines, in collaboration with Intership Navigation Co. Ltd and Intership Navigation Training Center, Inc., celebrated yet another milestone with the 100th Commencement Exercise of the Pre-Sea Training Program on March 15, 2024.

The ceremony held within the halls of the AMOSUP Convention Hall, nestled in the heart of historic Intramuros was attended by almost 300 people. The event was graced by Congressman Ron Salo, proponent of Magna Carta of Seafarers, Director Luisito Delos Santos, Planning and Policy Service of Maritime Industry Authority, Assistant Secretary Jerome Pampolina of Department of Migrant Workers, Associated Marine Officer's and Seamen's Union of the Philippines (AMOSUP) President Dr Conrad Oca, IMEC Training Manager Dan Aldrich Tolentino MNI C.L.C , Former MARINA Deputy Administrator Capt Jeffrey Solon, former ISNTC President Tony Palenzuela, ISN Group Training Manager Rene Dzicki, representatives from various shipowners, partner schools, and media friends from the industry.

In his message, Congressman Ron Salo commended the collaborative efforts of Hartmann Crew Philippines and Intership Navigation Training Center for advancing the global shipping industry through innovative education which shapes the future of maritime leadership. He also reminded that as the global maritime landscape becomes increasingly regulated and standardized, it is imperative that we prioritize compliance with these standards to ensure the continued employability and competitiveness of Filipino seafarers on the international stage.

Director Luisito Delos Santos shared the good news that President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr has approved and adopted the 10-year Maritime Industry Plan 2028 (MIDP) which will serve as the country’s whole of nation roadmap for the integrated development and strategic direction of the maritime industry. Director Lui remembered the years where crew had to line up in the MARINA Office to get their certifications but with the digitalization in MARINA, this was already resolved and more improvements should be expected since the MIDP includes a program to implement a sustainable maritime innovation, transformation, digitalization, and knowledge center and adoption of an effective maritime administration governance system.

Rene Dzicki, Intership Group Training Manager, reaffirmed the company's commitment to Filipino seafarers. For the past 30 years, Intership has supported the pre-sea training program which had trained 3,285 cadets and had produced over 1,100 officers.

Conceived from the commitment to Filipino Seafarers, the pre-sea training goes far beyond mere obligation. It embodies Hartmann Crew Philippines' mantra: "Building Careers, Preserving Families, and Strengthening a Nation." We recognize that by investing in Filipino crew, we gain more than just skilled workers; we gain valued partners reiterated by Engr. Giovanni Tuapin, President of HCP
