Some of the topics discussed include: How to Budget, How and When to Say No, and How to Set Family and Career Goals. An overview of the industry was also presented in order to give cadets a better idea of how important their profession is to the world and its economy.

Parents and guardians were asked to join their respective cadets in this seminar in order to create better understanding among both parties especially with the realities that come with a career in seafaring.

HCP and ISNTC’s partner, ATIKHA, has been conducting these seminars with the cadets for over ten years. ATIKHA is a non-government organization that provides economic and social services to overseas Filipinos and their families in the Philippines.

The goal of the ATIKHA seminars with HCP and ISNTC is to be able to empower seafarers with the knowledge and tools that would help them manage finances alongside the needs of their families and careers. It is conducted at the cadet level as part of the holistic development and training that enrollees of ISNTC are able to receive. It is further supported by HCP as part of its mantra of Building Careers, Preserving Families, and Strengthening a Nation.
