In a world where the sea often separates hearts, HCP took a heartfelt initiative to celebrate Valentine's Day dubbed “Keeping the Romance Alive” last February 16, 2024 at the AMOSUP Convention Hall. The event which was made in partnership with the Maritime Multi-Purpose Cooperative (MMPC) and the Ruben M. Tanseco, S.J. Center for Family Ministries (RMT-CEFAM) sought to bridge the emotional gap between seafarers and their beloved spouses.

Setting the tone for the day, esteemed resource speakers Ma. Concepcion P. Arboleda and Maria Cynthia Javier-Gavino, PhD, shared their wealth of knowledge and experiences in marital dynamics, guiding the couples on a journey of introspection and connection.

A standout moment of the day unfolded during the 'Getting to Know' activity, urging spouses to reintroduce themselves to each other which sparked a delightful wave of familiarity and rediscovery.

Likewise, the exploration of research findings on seafarer marriages offered valuable insights, illuminating the distinctive challenges and strengths inherent in these relationships.

As the day unfolded, discussions on emotional needs and intimacy deepened the understanding between partners. Interactive activities, such as ranking emotional needs and participating in blindfold guessing games, enabled couples to delve into the intricacies of their bond, fostering communication and empathy.

Amidst laughter and shared stories, couples participated in the poignant act of writing love letters and envisioning the future of their relationship. The exchange of these letters served as a tangible symbol of enduring love, reaffirming commitments, and kindling hope for the future.

The event reached its zenith with a ritual of renewal, where couples solemnly pledged their enduring love and unwavering devotion. Against the picturesque backdrop of a setting sun and a gentle sea breeze, vows were exchanged, binding hearts across oceans and continents.
