The Annual GPCCI and POEA Forum
The annual German Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GPCCI) and the POEA held its annual forum last June 1, 2016 at the Döhle Haus in Manila. This year’s forum is the second of its kind.
The event served as a venue to discuss areas of interest between the POEA and members of GPCCI from the crewing industry.
Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac of the POEA discussed current plans and developments in the POEA to improve their services such as online payment of contract fees and contributions including the decentralization of Seaman Registration to their provincial branches.
In turn, GPCCI members had a chance to discuss their problems such as the slow processing of employment contracts, vessel registration, and adjustment in wages. Speed and efficiency were highlighted given the fluid situation in the shipping industry which is currently coping with a tough market.
