DOLE and POEA recognize its Maritime Social Partners in Appreciation Ceremony

Last June 22, 2016 the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) through the Philippine Overseas Employment Association (POEA) hosted an event for its maritime social partners at the Manila Hotel. In attendance were representatives from the shipping sector such as shipowners associations, manning groups, and seafarers unions. Also present at the event was the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary, Rosalina Dimapilis Baldoz and Philippine Overseas Employment Agency Administrator (POEA), Hans Cacdac.

The event was mounted to honor and recognize the maritime social partners especially for their efforts in providing decent employment and initiatives in the Philippines. Furthermore, the gathering aimed to highlight the strength of the partnerships that exist throughout the maritime sector. It is the both the competency of the Filipino seafarers and the sector groups that allow such partnerships to flourish.

As the new Philippine administration begins office, the event was also a way of expressing the gratitude of the outgoing team. They asked all maritime partners for their full support of the new leadership tantamount if not more than what they had shown the previous administration.

Attending on behalf of the German Shipowners' association was Mr. Alberto Gomez, President and CEO of Hartmann Crew Philippines.
