MARINA Open Forum at Hartmann Crew Philippines

Last January 6, 2016 the Maritime Multi Purpose Cooperative along with Hartmann Crew Philippines hosted a talk and open forum entitled Everything you wanted to know about MARINA but was afraid to ask.

The event was open to crew and staff of Hartmann Crew Philippines as well as visitors from outside Hartmann Crew Philippines that were interested in learning more about MARINA.

Chief Mate Michael Esplago, MARINA supervisor for Maritime Education, Training and Standards delivered a presentation which was immediately followed by an open forum. He was joined by his colleagues Herbert Nalupa, OIC, Public Information Division, and Jyra Española, Information Specialist, MARINA.

The goal of the event was to provide a venue for seafarers and concerned parties to be able to get a better understanding of MARINA procedures and policies. It was also an opportunity for MARINA to disseminate information and correct any misconceptions.

The audience asked about their personal experience in upgrading, taking exams, the daily journal, and the ETO among another things.

MARINA also shared a useful tip! It is in the IRR (Implementing Rules and Regulations) of MARINA that every January, MARINA will publish a reviewer for seafarers in order to prepare for exams. Note however that this does not apply for the practical tests. Release of the reviewer will be announced on the official MARINA Facebook and website.
