June-28-2017

Atty Vera Joy S. Ban-eg, the current OIC Executive Director of the MARINA STCW office with her team came in to join the celebration

Last June 21 and 22, Hartmann Crew Philippines (HCP) held an early celebration for Day of The Seafarer at its office in Malate, Manila. The theme for this year’s celebration was “Seafarers Matter”, as conceptualized by the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

The first day of the celebration was open to all HCP crew and their families, office staff, and students at HCP’s partner training arm, Intership Navigation Training Center (ISNTC).

A function room was transformed into a salon where guests were treated with free haircuts by Deme’s barbershop and free massages care of SR Foods.

Meanwhile, the lounge area became a one-stop-shop catering to seafarers’ needs. AMOSUP came in full force and offered ID services, legal and medical consultation, and a slew of other services for HCP crew and their dependents. PAG-IBIG was also present for ID application and processing, as well as general inquiries.

On day two, HCP hosted a kapihan session where HCP crew and their families had the chance to engage the team of HCP with their questions and concerns. Topics ranged from benefits at HCP to the state of the shipping industry. Official representatives from each office department were tapped to attend on behalf of their team.

The event wrapped up with words from HCP President and CEO, Alberto Gomez who spoke with the crew about the shipping industry. Things are changing in the business of shipping. Recently, companies have closed or have been forced to merge—but your career is still in your hands. Perform well, and jobs will come. Protect the reputation of the Filipino Seafarer and show them the quality of work you can deliver.”

Filipinos make up the largest nationality bloc among all seafarers around the world. Their contributions to Philippine society are unparalleled. Learn more about it by watching HCP’s Day of the Seafarer video on YouTube: http://bit.ly/SeafarersMatterDOtS2017

On this annual celebration of the Day of the Seafarer, HCP salutes all seafarers around the world—thanking and acknowledging them for a job well done.

And while the industry continues to change, seafarers face the challenge of keeping up with the times. The demands maybe tough, but HCP offers its full support to its crew, working with them as they further their careers.
